Edit a Menu Item for One Day (Override “Served As” Name)

Sometimes you want more detail for a specific day.

Example:

  • Library name: Apples

  • Served as: Apple slices

This is where overrides are used.

How to Edit for One Day

  1. Click the menu item’s edit option.

  2. In the popup, locate the Served as field.

  3. Enter a custom name.

  4. Click Save.

The override will apply only to that specific date and meal.

What Overrides Do

  • Keep the original library name.

  • Add a day-specific description.

  • Do NOT change the food everywhere.

Clear an Override

To revert to the original library name:

  1. Open the Edit popup.

  2. Clear the “Served as” field (or click Clear Override).

  3. Save.

When to Use Overrides

Use overrides when:

  • The preparation differs (e.g., diced, sliced, steamed).

  • You want more specific documentation for that day.

  • The food is presented differently than the standard name.
